Donations Welcomed

The City of Janesville is always accepting donations from individuals or groups to assist in providing quality public goods and services to our residents. Donors take an active role in promoting enjoyment of the community’s resources and assist in improving the quality of life for all Janesville residents. Donations can be in the form of specific items or monetary donations to fund the program or item of the donor’s choice. Please consult the list below for donations currently being requested by departments. However, should you have an inspiration for your gift that is not included on this list, City staff would welcome working with you on applying your donation to the designated project or program.

Charitable contributions made for public purposes to the City of Janesville are tax-deductible under IRC 170(c) “Charitable etc., contributions and gifts”.

Memorial Trees, Benches and Picnic Tables
Donors may memorialize a loved one by funding a tree, park bench or picnic table at the following rates. Additional information can be found here.

  • Memorial Tree - $300
  • Round Picnic Table - $790

Maintain and Enhance the Park and Trail System
Donations of any size are always appreciated to assist in maintaining and enhancing our extensive park and trail system. Donors are encouraged to take part in the decision of which park, trail or project their donation will fund.

Ice Arena

The warming room is very popular, especially with multiple birthday parties. A partition is needed to divide the room in half. Also, the birthday party room is in need of new flooring. Specific needs are: 14' x 20' rubber flooring.

Concert in the Park Sponsorship
We are looking for sponsors for our Main Street Entertainment Series, six concerts that are held at Lower Courthouse Park throughout the summer. Sponsors will be recognized with their name and logo (if applicable) on a sign in front of Lower Courthouse Park for the duration of the summer and in our Spring/Summer Activity Guide which is mailed to all residences.

Chaise Lounge Chairs
Chaise lounge chairs need to be replaced for pool patron use at Rockport and Palmer Pools. Chairs cost $100 each and up to 24 chairs are needed.

Craft Supplies
Various craft supplies are always needed for our Day Camp Program. Examples of requested supplies include construction paper, crayons, glue, markers, and more.

Sport Supplies
Various sport supplies are always needed for our Day Camp Program. Examples of requested items include dodgeballs, kickballs, basketballs and more.

Multi-Colored Lights
The Enchanted Forest is in need of additional lighting. Donated multi-colored lights would be used to decorate trees at the event.

Scholarship Pool Pass
For just $15, donors can provide a low-income child with a pool pass for one year.

Day Camp Scholarship
Through donations, low-income children are able to attend Day Camp sessions. Sessions cost between $80 and $175

Various Prize Items
Prizes are always needed for our special events throughout the year. Trinkets, passes or gift cards are examples of prizes that everyone would like to win.

Door Prizes
The Senior Center holds regular monthly events where door prizes are awarded to attendees. Donated new items of any value would be appreciated.

Forever Stamps
Newsletters and assorted correspondence are sent to Senior Center members throughout the year. Donated forever stamps would help keep mailing costs down, and allow us to use our funds for direct services and programs.

Kitchen Goods
A variety of disposable and coffee products are used for our classes and special events. Donations of items such as plastic forks, spoons and knives, 6” and 9” paper plates, napkins, 10 oz. Styrofoam cups, coffee (regular or decaf) and powdered creamer will help keep our operating costs down.

Magazine Subscriptions
As a new perk for our Senior Center members, we have a variety of magazines available for browsing in our gathering places. Any donated magazine subscriptions would be appreciated.

Jigsaw Puzzles
Jigsaw puzzles are always being completed in our community room. Please consider donating a new or gently used puzzle for our Senior Center members to use.

Cleaning Products
A variety of cleaning products are needed for the Ice Arena, including:
• DeVere C-Clear Glass Cleaner
• Wow Cleaner
• Multi-fold Paper Towels
• 55 Gallon Trash Bags

AA Batteries
We use a pair of AA batteries for our microphones at each Jets game. A donation of batteries would be greatly appreciated.

Public Skate Prizes
Any small gift certificates or other tokens to be handed out as limbo prizes during public skate would be appreciated.

Birthday Party Supplies
Donations of supplies for birthday parties would help cut our costs. Requested items include Styrofoam cups, 12” paper plates, napkins, plastic forks and 2 liters of soda.
