Except in designated dog exercise areas, dogs and cats are prohibited from Janesville parks and trails between May 15 and September 15 of each year. During permitted times, pets must be on a leash of 6' or less in length.
Dog exercise areas are found in designated portions of Palmer Park and the Rock River Parkway. You may use them daily from 5:00AM to 11:00PM year-round. In these areas, you can exercise and train your dog without having to comply with the leash law. However, you must always have your dog under your control. Also, you must clean up after your pet and have your pets licensed. Dogs and cats are not permitted to run at large in the City of Janesville and must be licensed when it reaches the age of 5 months. If you take your dog or cat for a walk off your property it must be attached to a leash which is not more than 6 feet in length.
