The City of Janesville sweeps residential areas five times per year and the downtown and main arterial streets six times per year.
Street sweeping in residential areas begins in the northwest portion of the City and moves through the City in a counter-clockwise direction, generally finishing in the northeast portion of the City.
Please find below a map depicting the general street sweeping route.
Street sweeping dates are subject to change depending on the volume of waste collected, weather conditions, and shifting departmental work priorities. The City of Janesville encourages off-street parking of vehicles during street sweeping events. For more information, please contact the City Services Center at 755-3110.
You may also request the cleanup of unusual debris in the street such as dead animals or tree limbs by contacting the City Service Center.
Please note: Street sweepers are not capable of cleaning up brush, tree debris, or large quantities of leaves, grass, or yard waste. The depositing of these materials into the street or the curb line is prohibited (with the exception of leaves between October 1 and the day in which loose leaf collection occurs in November).
