The Sustainable Janesville Committee's purpose shall be to advise the City Administration and the City Council on issues of environmental sustainability. They shall collect public input on sustainability issues, examine potential sustainability initiatives and provide recommendations related to environmental sustainability to the City Administration and the City Council. The committee will be a centralized point of contact for all environmental and sustainability related items within the organization and the community.
Desirable Characteristics and Qualifications for Committee Members (per staff liaison)
- Willingness to research, and glean insight from, a broad range of sustainability efforts initiated by other municipalities
- Event coordination/project management experience

Residency Requirements of Citizen Members | Council Policy 86 indicates preference for residents, non-residents that own a business in Janesville or non-residents that own property in Janesville, but non-residents may be appointed. In addition, no more than 30% of the committee's membership may be non-residents. |
