Management Information Specialist

The City Manager's Office is organized to include a Manager's Initiatives Group (MIG) to execute many of the day-to-day activities necessary to lead the organization now and into the future.

The MIG consists of two primary functions:

The Strategic Communications portion of the MIG functions under direction of the Assistant to the City Manager and is responsible for internal and external strategic communications and messaging for the City of Janesville. It is staffed by a Management Information Specialist and a part-time Management Information Intern.
The goal of the MIG is to design and implement a comprehensive approach to effective communication between the City and its stakeholders with particular emphasis on relations between the City Manager’s Office and the public, media, external elected and appointed officials, business leaders and community groups. The MIG intends to enhance stakeholder satisfaction by keeping them informed and engaging them in City activities and decision-making processes. Additionally, the MIG works to improve internal communication processes.

The MIG informs and engages the public through print advertising, social media, weekly press releases and oversight of the City website. Departments are assisted with internal and external communications through a variety of activities including preparation of project briefs, development of project webpages, and advertisement of activities and events.
