City Receives First Award for 2018 Popular Annual Financial Report
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Janesville the Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) Award for the City’s 2018 PAFR. The City first published a PAFR in 2015 for the 2014 calendar year. The 2018 PAFR was the first time the City submitted its PAFR for the GFOA award program, and the City is pleased to be a recipient of this award.
A PAFR is intended to be a user-friendly annual companion to the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and summarizes financial information in a format designed to be accessible and understandable to residents, businesses, community groups, and other interested parties without a background in public finance. The City Manager’s Office prepares this annual document with assistance from Finance Office staff. Credit for this award goes to Management Intern Jordan Salzman for creating an award-worthy PAFR and submitting it to GFOA for consideration. Creating a PAFR is not a requirement of municipalities, but is a priority for the City in its effort to maintain an accountable, accessible, and transparent government for its stakeholders.
