Solid waste collection services are provided weekly to all residential properties up to four units in size. The City provides limited weekly collection service to businesses generating small volumes of waste. Collection is accomplished using an automated collection system.
Begining January 1, 2011 each residential property, up to four units in size, is charged a sanitation collection fee for trash collection. Condominiums and non-residential properties that receive trash collection will also be charged the sanitation collection fee. This fee is charged quarterly on the City of Janesville water, wastewater, and stormwater utility bill.
Trash must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m., but no earlier than 24 hours before collection day, to ensure that it will not be missed by collection crews. To determine your trash and recyclables collection day, please reference the 2013 or 2014 trash and recyclables collection schedule.
How To Dispose of Trash
All trash must be placed in the trash cart (blue lid) with the lid substantially closed. Trash not in the cart will not be collected.Remove your trash cart from the curb within 24 hours after collection day. This webpage depicts how to place your cart at the curb for collection.
