Transportation Committee

This five-member committee consists of four citizens and one Council member. The committee's purpose is to study the City's transportation problems, to evaluate alternatives to and solutions for such problems, and to make related recommendations to the City Council. The Engineering Division staffs the Transportation Committee.

Approval or Confirmation by Common Council
Residency Requirements of Citizen Members  Council Policy 86 indicates preference for residents, non-residents that own a business in Janesville or non-residents that own property in Janesville, but non-residents may be appointed. In addition, no more than 30% of the committee's membership may be non-residents. 
Duties and Responsibilities Make recommendations on City traffic  regulations (traffic lights, stop signs, etc.) and the  need for school crossing guards (CPS Nos. 43 & 53).
