Summary of Services
The Janesville Police Department's mission is to enhance the quality of life in Janesville by working cooperatively with the community and citizens to enforce the law, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime and provide for a safe environment. The Janesville Police Department was first awarded Certificate of Accreditation in May 2000 by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG). We were most recently reaccredited in 2014. The accreditation recognizes that Janesville's police department exemplifies the best professional practices in the conduct of its responsibilities.
You may obtain copies of accident and police reports at the Police Department for $.25/page. Non criminal fingerprints can be obtained at the Police Department for a $10 charge on Tuesdays between 3pm and 5pm or Wednesdays between 9am and 11am. Please contact the Recreation Division for information regarding a street closing permit for block parties or other special events. For any other type of street closing needed, contact the Police Department during business hours.
