Child Safety Seat Inspection Program
The Child Safety Seat Inspection program assists parents in protecting their children by providing certified child safety seat technicians from the Janesville Fire and Police Departments. The Fire Department holds monthly installation and inspections events at Fire Station #4 (4117 E. Milwaukee Street). During these events, technicians inspect, instruct and correct improperly installed child safety seats. If a safety seat is found to be unsafe during an inspection, parents may choose to conveniently obtain a new low-cost safety seat from the Fire Department. Each inspection takes approximately 30 minutes and is free of charge; however, donations are accepted. The donations will be used to fund the operating costs of the inspection program. To limit waiting periods for families, appointments are necessary. To make an appointment for an upcoming event, please contact Fire Station #4 at 752-1660.
2010 Inspection Events are as follows:
- January 13, 2-6PM
- February 17, 8AM-Noon
- March 10, 2-6PM
- April 14, 8AM-Noon
- May 20, 2-6PM
- June 17, 8AM-Noon
In addition to the monthly events, individual inspection and installations appointments may be arranged. These appointments may be scheduled with Fire or Police personnel and can take place at Fire Station #4 or at the Police Services Building (100 N. Jackson St.).
For questions about this program or to register for an upcoming installation and inspection event, please contact Fire Station #4 at 752-1660. For individual appointments, please call the Police Department at 755-3077 or Fire Station #4 at 752-1660.
