City Employees Receive “Mighty Oak” Awards

On Thursday, September 27, during the City Manager’s “All Hands” meeting, six City employees were presented with “Mighty Oak” Awards.  These awards liken each employee to the symbol of the oak tree, with strong roots in the community, the ability to withstand personal and professional trials due to their inherent moral values, being multi-talented in his/her service to the City, and enduring environmental changes without waiver.  Department and division heads nominated the following employees as the September 2018 award winners (listed from left to right in the picture):

  • Janesville Police Department:Karen Burdick
  • Neighborhood and Community Services:Tim Gorman
  • Janesville Fire Department: Josh Uecker (Deputy Chief Ponkauskas accepted Josh’s award on his behalf)
  • Hedberg Public Library: Michelle Dennis
  • Department of Public Works: Scot Truesdill
  • Assessor’s Office: Chris Leitz
